Historical Etchings

I would happily tattoo any of the amazing imagery on the BibliOdyssey website. There are historical etchings and old book scans of angels, demons, decorations, skulls, and many other goodies I couldn’t list them all if I tried. Check it out, email me your favorites, and lets get busy.

Bartleman - Carpe Diem

I’m back to work in LA after a wild week in Gilbert, AZ. As always it was a lot of work and a lot of fun, and I started some of the biggest most ambitious tattoos I’ve had the opportunity to do.

This week I am checking out shops around LA looking for a top quality place to tattoo for a while. It’s time for me to quit running around and focus for a bit. If you’ve got a place you think I should check out, or where you know someone already, please let me know.

I’ll be back in Gilbert and Santa Rosa in the next few months to continue the tattoos I have yet to finish.

Visionary LA Art Show

Last night was Visionary Arts LA, an art show put on my Alex and Allyson Grey in Downtown Los Angeles. I went with my dear friend and fellow artist Saira. We got there a bit early, checked out the club and then took a short walk around the city until the event began.

Alex hosted a panel on Visionary Arts after a lesson on Visionary Art history and the current state of visionary art in the world. He mentioned so many good artists I couldn’t write them all down and I’m hoping to find out who they were in the video of the event that Guy Aitchison and Michele Wortman are putting together. Adam Jones from Tool was a special highlight during the panel. Once they finished the music began and I jokingly commented to Saira that I wanted to paint also, and had a painting in my car that I had been working on. She dared me to go ask Alex if it would be okay for me to paint as well.

It was dark, and there was a lot going on, but I was able to do about two hours worth of painting before I decided it would be more beneficial to go up close and watch the master artists.

I got the chance to speak with each artist throughout the night. Some other wonderful people I had the chance to meet were Zachariah from CoSM in NY who shared some insight into the chapels progress. Saber who has been a graffiti icon since I was a young kid with a can of paint had some kind words as well.

It was a beautiful evening of art, music, and energy that I wish was more common. I learned more than I hoped to, and am filled with inspiration beyond the point I considered possible. I was able to spend a night with some very dear friends, and make some new ones. I would like to thank everyone involved for making it such a wonderful evening never to be forgotten.

The Moth

Jackie came over around 3pm to get a moth tattooed on her shoulder opposite the raven we tattooed on her right shoulder. The picture she broght me was slightly bigger than the raven and much more detailed. By the time we got started it was about 5pm. We finished at nearly 1:45am with a few breaks thrown in. Jackie is tough as nails and made it the whole way with no complaints. The results were well worth it.
